Taking your first steps toward counselling

Looking for a counsellor can be a vulnerable and confusing experience. The counselling relationship is one of the more intimate connections that people develop but how do we know who will be a good fit? What do we look for? At Corage Counselling, we are sensitive to and aware of these questions and will work collaboratively with you to answer them and to support you in any way we can in your process.

Have a discussion with us today through our complimentary virtual consult. Book here.

I feel so heard and listened to. It’s like finally exhaling a breath I didn’t even know I was holding in. I truly wish I had come to counselling earlier!

How is counselling helpful?

Overwhelm Need Not Be the Norm in Your Life

Perhaps you are at a place where you feel totally out-of-control and you do not see a light at the end of the tunnel. But that does not mean it does not exist.

Counselling can help you consider a road not travelled and guide you towards surprising sources of resilience. At Corage Counselling, we offer a supportive space where:

  • you will learn new skills/tools that will help increase stability to life

  • you can talk about what is most important to you

  • your authentic self is welcomed

Clients have said that in such a space, they feel calm and energized; this in turn fosters creativity and new ways of being, thinking, and new solutions for their challenges.

“Finding words where words were absent before and, as a result, being able to share your deepest pain and deepest feelings with another human being. This is one of the most profound experiences we can have” ~ Bessel Van De Kolk

Such a connection with another can help with:

  • Burnout - profession and care-giving

  • ADHD-struggles

  • Anxiety and depression, feelings of stuckness

  • Family and relationship conflicts

  • High sensitivity needs (both emotional and sensorially)

  • Grief, loss & meaninglessness

  • Sexual assault and abuse

  • deep loneliness, shame and guilt

It is especially important that if you have experienced traumatic events in your life, a safe space exists for you where that experience can be named. We can be that space.

What to expect

Your counselling journey begins with a free 20-minute consultation to allow you to decide if we would be a good fit for you.

Initial sessions are collaborative explorations of core challenges, goals for therapy, and options for therapeutic approaches. Together, you and your therapist will map out a path for your healing journey that unfolds in subsequent sessions. Depending on your unique path and the type of service you access, modalities will be different.

At Corage Counselling, we offer the following services:

We are now offering in-person, online and phone counselling. We follow current health guidelines by the Province when meeting in-person. Please check guidelines here.
